Typically, I would not post so many times in one week. However, between “Pulpit Prayers” and the thoughts that are rumbling around in my head today, I’ve needed to post each day. I hope that “Pulpit Prayers” challenged you to really see the people you encounter each day.
Just this morning I read a devotional that was talking about passion and purpose and the author asked the reader if they could identify their own passion and purpose in life. Ten years ago I could not have told you what lit my fire (passion) and what my purpose was as I walk this earth. Ten years ago I would have had the deer-in-the-headlights look on my face if I had been asked that question.
Ah, but now, I know. My passion is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!! My purpose is helping others (especially women) walk intimately with Him through the study of His Word and prayer. My purpose is also to help others understand the love and grace that He offers to each of us, regardless of the beauty or the hideousness of our background. This is why He has called me to speak and write.
Not everyone is called to ministry. Not everyone’s passion and purpose will be to teach about Jesus AND THAT IS OK. Some have a passion for children and their purpose is to love children. Some have a passion for the elderly, while others have a passion for music. Your purpose and passion may look very different from mine AND THAT IS OK. In fact, it is good. It would be a dull world if the only choice in ice cream was vanilla.
My question for you today is: A) What is your passion? and B) What is your purpose in this life?
