Several of you had emailed or Facebooked me asking what I had decided about my work situation and the lottery. Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. It seems the situation may have taken care of itself even before I knew about the lottery. If you are in the dark and have no idea what I am talking about go here and read the post related to this.
On the morning I discovered that my employer was becoming a retailer for the Georgia lottery, I went into work and found that my name had been marked off the pharmacist’s schedule for all of August. I have worked every Thursday at this particular pharmacy for 2 years. Now suddenly I had no days to work in August. When I questioned the pharmacy owner about it he said that he had to give my days to another pharmacist who was hired recently and is also part time, but is working enough hours to get health insurance. He told me that he would need me extra in September and so he had taken hours away in August to preserve payroll. To date I have not heard about any extra hours in September. We will wait and see.
It was after I had the conversation with him about the reduction in hours that the conversation about the lottery took place. So, I know the cutback in hours was not related to the lottery issue. Perhaps it is the Lord’s way of freeing me up for ministry. 🙂
With regard to my decision–assuming that I work at that location again… After praying and seeking counsel from my husband, my best friend, Cindy and her husband, Robert and my pastor, I decided that I would stay at the pharmacy. They all agreed that as long as I was not asked to sell the lottery tickets, there was little reason to not stay and be a light shining for Jesus.
Thank you for your prayers. My sole desire is to be a good witness and not do ANYTHING that would hinder that witness.
Check back tomorrow for the 2nd “It’s Tough Being a Woman…..”
