I made my first pilgrimage to the land of Israel in 2006. Weapons from the 30+ day long Lebanon War had only been laid down for about 3 months prior when our plane touched down in Tel Aviv. In spite of the recent war in northern Israel, I was full of excitement to see the Land where my Lord had lived, walked, ministered, and died.

Our group was with one of the premier tour companies in Israel who did an outstanding job for us. In spite of the small skirmishes still taking place in the North, our days were filled with quiet reflection and zero interruptions related to the recent war.

We later learned that the tour company was so well connected with the Israeli government that they had the inside scoop on anything going on in the country that might impact their business. So, even if there were potential pockets of unrest where we were touring, the company was in the know about it and detoured us around it. They had the ‘big picture’ and I did not have to be concerned about those details. All I had to do was make my mind up to trust them, show up each morning, and get on the tour bus.

Trusting God with your heart and life is a bit like me getting on that tour bus in Israel. Because of all the things that rage around and in us, like pandemics, politics, etc, we can almost still smell the proverbial gun powder from the war. In these days, you and I have to make up our minds whether we trust God or not. Is He Who He says He is? Is God trustworthy and true?

Beginning today, I will be writing a blog series about trusting God and His Sovereignty over our lives. The material will be taken from a short study I led last fall. I called that study, “He Reigns: Understanding and Trusting the Sovereignty of God.” The ladies who went through the study enjoyed it very much. In fact, after the pandemic hit, several of them messaged me and said how pertinent the information was and how only God could have known how much we would need that encouragement to TRUST HIS SOVEREIGNTY in 2020. I would love for you to take this journey with me right here on the blog.

Let’s begin today by pondering a few questions to help us understand where we fall on the trust scale. Would you leave a comment, use the contact form on my webpage, or email me at [email protected] and share your honest answers with me.

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being ‘I do not trust God at all’ and 10 being ‘I trust God with everything’, what rating would you give your trust level? (Mine was 7)

  • In what areas of your life do you find it most difficult to trust God?

  • What, if any, events, circumstances, or people in your past or present have undermined or negatively impacted your ability to trust God? (Please be discreet if a person is involved)

  • What, if anything, would need to change in your life today so you could move your trust score to a higher number?

I hope you will join me for this blog series as we lean into the Father and learn to trust Him more deeply. Have a lovely day, friend.
