The past week has offered many opportunities for thankfulness. I wanted to take a moment and share with you a few pictures and stories of people building legacies and having fun.

On Thursday, September 1st I had the privilege of helping the ladies of Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia kick off their autumn Bible study session. They are doing my study, From the Trash Pile to the Treasure Chest: Creating a Godly Legacy.  They invited me to come and share with them whatever was on my heart about the study. What a wonderful group!!  There was laughter and tears, hugs and smiles and some delicious food for breakfast. Here is a picture of the group with their Legacy study books. These women are serious about Bible study and had prepared their hearts for our time together.

Precious ladies starting my Bible study

This sweet face is one of the members of the Macedonia group. She was so adorable I just had to get a picture of her with her study book. I know she has a lot of godly legacy stories that she could tell.

Also on Thursday I cooked food for two precious older couples in our community. One of them, the Blairs are dear friends of ours. Unknown to me, the day I took the food was their 61st wedding anniversary. I grabbed my camera for a quick shot. Now, that is a legacy to be proud of. In a day when over 50% of marriages end in divorce, here are two people who made the CHOICE to honor their marriage covenant. I know it was not always easy, but they made the choice to stick with it. I’m privileged to call these dear folks my friends.

61 years of marriage - Now that is a LEGACY!!

On Saturday, Greg and I, along with our dear friends the Thomases and the Groovers headed into downtown Atlanta for the first Georgia game of the season. We were quite the group all decked out in our black and red. We looked good—the DAWGS, not so much. It was not a good night for our beloved Georgia Bulldogs. We have a great time, however. We had dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill and then walked to the Dome for the game.

Decked out in our Red ‘n Black reading to cheer the Dawgs on!

Here you see my man and me in the Georgia Dome awaiting the start of the game.

On Sunday afternoon our guys played golf, while Cindy, Sherry, her friend Juli and I had lunch at the Spa at Chateau Elan in Braselton, GA. I had never met Juli, however, I felt as if I knew her because Sherry spoke so highly of her. It was such a treat to finally meet her and get to know her a bit. As I sat at lunch with these precious women whom God has given me as friends, I felt unspeakably blessed.
Special times with special friends

Godly friends are such a blessing. I want to hear how God has blessed you in the FRIEND department.  Tell me your ‘friend’ stories.
