A few pictures from our New Year’s Day Beans ‘n Greens lunch. I think we fed 38 people and had a few drop by who did not eat. We always have a great time with family and friends.
This year I cooked 2 1/2 cases of collards. I leave my big pot simmering on the stove downstairs and serve the guests from my smaller pot. I have the yummiest recipe for collards. Even people who don’t like collards will eat these!!

This year I did 5 pounds of soup beans and 4 1/2 pounds of black-eyed peas. Here are 2 crock pots full of beans and peas simmering in my office. There were two more pots in the kitchen that I served out of first and then switched over to these.

Greg is always eager for the first guests to arrive because he has had to smell all this cooking all morning and is dying to dive in and eat. Our long-time friends, Patricia and Calvin were the first to arrive and the three of them got right down to the eating business. Patricia and I were friends in high school and I was in their wedding. Calvin was the builder who built our home.

I could NOT resist a picture of Maggie in her all-too cool high top tennis shoes and funky tights. If you are doing my Bible study, you will see another picture of Maggie with her mother, Channy and sister, Sierra, in week 6.

Here is Channy and her husband, Terry. Channy’s story is in week 6 of From the Trash Pile to the Treasure Chest: Creating a Godly Legacy. She is such a precious friend of mine.

When God was giving out gorgeous, thick, wavy hair, I was in the bathroom, I think( which is where I spend half my life!!). I got silky, straight hair that would not wave for anything in this world. But, God in all His grace and wisdom, sent this wonderful man to be my hairdresser about 17 years ago. Keith is such a neat guy and we were so happy to meet his awesome family. Thanks for making the trip from Hotlanta up to eat with us!!

This picture shows parts of two families who are good friends of ours–the Thomases and the Lovells. The beautiful face you see in this picture (sorry, Zac and Johnny, not talking about you) is Jenna Thomas. I am so proud of her. She is halfway through Law School in Florida. She will make an awesome attorney!
