In my quiet time this morning, as I meditated on Psalm 119: 89-128, yet another verse really jumped out and spoke a word to me. Here it is:
Psalm 119: 98 (NKJV) – “You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies.”
How about that? I know I certainly need to be wiser in general, and most definitely wiser than my enemies. When the Word says, ‘enemies’ it means ALL our enemies and that includes Satan. I surely desire to be wiser than him because he is always lurking out there, ready to eat my lunch. He wants nothing more than to cause me to fall and shatter my testimony for Christ.
Another enemy that our Heavenly Father makes us wiser than through His Word is the flesh. Oh, boy, do I ever need to be wise in this regard. My flesh, my sin nature has gotten me into the pit so many times it is not even laughable. When I think back about how much turmoil could have been avoided in my life had I only listened to His commands and been wise in His ways, I just want to cry.
Relying on God’s wisdom is the key to walking well and walking wise in this life.
