Friends, today’s Friday Blessings post is short on pictures. So sorry for that, but most of my blessings just did not have an associated picture. If you are like me, you like pictures in posts, however, I hope you will hang with me for this post. I’ll try to do better next week.

Blessings

{#207} – A Sale – This week red, yellow, and orange bell peppers have been on sale at Ingles. The minute I saw the sale sign, I knew this was my week to make pepper relish. It has been several years since I made relish and we were completely out. So, on Tuesday I chopped and chopped peppers, onions, and carrots. When all was said and done, I had 8 ½ pints of pepper relish. It will surely taste divine on soup beans this winter.

Pepper Relish – 2013

{#208} – Mild weather – Here in the south we have had an abundance of rain which has kept temperatures incredibly mild. I’m not certain that, here in the mountains, we have even reached 90 degrees yet. That fact thrills my soul, because I am so very much NOT a summer person. I have been so blessed by the mild summer temperatures this year!!

{#209} – Sound – As I type this post, I am sitting on my deck and I hear so many wonderful sounds. A pair of hummingbirds chirping back and forth at each other, a different bird calling out, the rustle of the leaves on the trees as a gentle breeze blows through, a lawn mower in the distance, a car passing by on the road, a dog barking, the call of the red-tailed hawks as they fly above our field. The ability to hear is something that I feel like many, if not most, of us take for granted.

{#210} – A Hand-written Note

{#211} – The Unique-ness of Nature – As I look at the many varieties of plants and animals, and yes, people, I am blessed that God did not make everything green or vanilla. He threw in some white and blue; chocolate and tangerine. Variety truly is the spice of life.

{#212} – Timely Doctor’s appointment – My mother is having major back issues again. She has bulging discs and every year or so one bulges so much it clamps down on a nerve and she is in lots of pain. That happened on Saturday. When she called her doctor on Monday morning, she was told they could see her this Friday. Yay! I was hoping she could get in this week. If you think of it, please pray for her.

{#213} – Fresh summer veggies – On Wednesday I fixed fresh baked squash and onions, fried okra, salad, rice, and stewed tomatoes and onions for our lunch. What a blessing it is to eat fresh vegetables in the summer!!

{#214} – Speaking opportunity – In early November, it will be my privilege and honor to be the keynote speaker at the ladies event at First Baptist Church of Artesia, New Mexico. We will be talking about our legacy. I am super excited to be invited and am looking forward to meeting an online friend, Lindsey Givens, who happens to be part of the church staff at FBCA. I am already praying that Jesus will be exalted and hearts will be changed.

What blessings are you counting today?
