Earlier in the week when I posted “Priscilla’s 5 P’s of Bible study” I promised to come back and write more about the weekend. If you have an opportunity to go to a “Going Beyond” Event with Priscilla Shirer, GO!! She is such an anointed Bible teacher. She teaches in a straight forward, simple way without being wordy or boring. Her sense of humor is infused into her teaching and she gives real life examples that add flavor to the message.
Her message this weekend was “The Interrupted Life” and immediately I knew that this would be a message that would touch many lives, especially among the 16 or so ladies who were with me.
Early in the Friday evening portion of the program, Priscilla asked us to take out the index card that we received in our packet when we entered the sanctuary. She invited us to write on that card any interruption in our life, any need that was occuring in our life at that moment. After giving us time to do that, she told us that her team would like the opportunity to pray over those requests and asked us to bring the cards down to the altar and lay them on the steps.
The response was overwhelming. I think the majority of the 1300 plus ladies who were in attendance layed a card on the steps. The steps were covered in cards. This was a very emotional time and I talked with the Lord throughout it. He reminded me that although the response of the women was overwhelming, He was not overwhelmed. He already knew every need and was already working in each situation. He is enough. He is El-Shaddai!!
Priscilla’s text was from the book of Jonah. I won’t go into much detail in case you happen to be going to a Going Beyond event this year. I don’t want to spoil the message for you. Priscilla reminded us that God interrupts OUR plans in order to get us on track with HIS plans. Just like Jonah, when we are feeling comfortable with where we are, God says, “Arise and go.” If we are wise, we will obey. If we do not obey, God will make sure that our disobedience costs us way more than our obedience would ever have cost.
God wants our complete obedience from the inside out. He doesn’t want us to obey just for appearance. He wants our hearts to be in our obedience.
The good news is that if we, like Jonah, have not been obedient in a matter, He is the God of second chances. Hallelujah!! I have used up a lot of those second chances. How about you?
So, if God is interrupting your life, stop and seek His heart in the matter. Know that He is doing it for your good and to bring you in line with His plan. Submit fully to what He is doing and walk in obedience. When you do, He will produce supernatural results!
