As I have told you in the past, I am working my way through the book of Psalms, meditating on one Psalm each week. I have been so blessed by this practice over the almost two years I have been doing it. This week I am in Psalm 94 and I wanted to share a verse with you that spoke so deeply to my heart and I pray it will to yours as well.
Because of the state of our nation (economically, spiritually, morally etc) so many people are anxious and fearful of what is happening or what might happen in the coming days. Almost every day we hear of people losing jobs, losing homes, losing marriages, losing children. There is an epidemic of loss at this hour in America that is really unprecedented in my lifetime. Loss almost always equals anxiety and fear.
God knows us so much better than we even know ourselves. He is so tender and compassionate and longs to provide us comfort and encouragement especially in the midst of our difficult times. So, he slipped verse 19 into Psalm 94 and whispers to you and to me, “This is especially for you..to remind you that I know and I care about what you are going through.”
“The multitude of my anxieties”–does that describe you? I know that I certainly have anxiety over more than one thing, how about you? God doesn’t condemn me for the anxieties I have, but rather He send me comforts to delight my soul. Comforts in the form of His Word, His Holy Spirit, Christian friends who pray, family, a word or song to bring hope, a fellow blogger with a word of encouragement, an area where we can be of use in His kingdom. So many ways that His comforts delight our souls.
I hope you find encouragement and comfort in this verse today.
