Friends, I found a quote on prayer recently that convicted me to my core. I wanted to share it with you because I am convinced that if we (you and I) invested as much time into our prayer lives as we do in eating, relaxing, working, or pretty much anything else we do in this life, our world would be radically transformed.

I don’t know about you, but prayer is often the spiritual discipline that gets the short end of the stick in my quiet time. I’m good about Bible study, and I’m doing better with Scripture memorization, but my prayer life needs some tweaking. Anyone else?

What if we committed to ten extra minutes a day in prayer? How different would our lives look? How different would our witness be for Christ? Ten minutes extra…on top of the time we already spend in prayer…ten more minutes talking with God, interceding, repenting, praising Him.

Check out this quote from Leonard Ravenhill:

“No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, but few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere.”

I don’t know about you, but that nearly sends me to the floor in shame. I want to be a pray-er, a wrestler, one who clings to Jesus. I want to have passion for prayer. I want to intercede for others. I want to fight for what is right. I don’t want to fail in my prayer life.

So, today, I’m flinging out a challenge.

Commit to spending ten extra minutes in prayer each day.

If you are willing to join me in ramping up your prayer life, I’d love to know about it. Flitter, I don’t care how you do it, but let’s join together and start a prayer revolution.

Ten minutes, people. Ten extra minutes each day will transform our world.
