Today’s Heart Notes post centers around two verses that will hopefully speak encouragement, peace, and comfort into your heart.

The hall seemed exceedingly long and wide to my 6-year old eyes. The noise was a loud cacophony of 6-year old voices, occasionally broken by an adult voice attempting to bring order. A bell rang and the teacher signaled it was time to release the hand I held and begin a new phase of life. It was time for me to go to school. I was not excited at the prospect.

You see, I am, and always have been a homebody. Surrounded by the familiar of family, I had grown to the grand age of six without the trauma of extended periods of separation from my parents. But, today would be different. Today, my Mother and Daddy would walk me to my classroom, hug me, and leave me there for what seemed to my six–year old heart to be an interminable period of time.

I cried. A lot. I just wanted my familiar. I didn’t do well with change. I still don’t. I wanted my Mother or my Daddy. The separation of those first few days of first grade was probably as hard on my Mother as it was on me, when she had to walk away and leave me in tears.

Life hands us all sorts of opportunities for separation, doesn’t it? We leave the familiar behind often in our walks on this earth. First grade, high school, college, marriage calling us to leave our parents’ home, job changes, new church, death. All times when we must walk out a separation of sorts.

There is one separation, however, that the believer in Jesus Christ will never experience. Paul wrote about it in Romans. Perhaps your heart needs to be reminded of it. Savor it, dear friend.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV)

If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will NEVER, EVER, EVER be separated from the love of God. Never! Even when you don’t feel His love and presence, He is there. Be encouraged! Be comforted! God’s love covers you today and always.
