Getting To Know You – 5.11.12

I love Getting To Know You through our Friday posts!

I’m so grateful for all of you who participate. The more, the merrier!

Today’s Getting to Know You question is about the things that occupy your time when you are not at work.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are pretty boring, actually. I love to read. I’ll read just about any kind of book…fiction, non fiction, etc. Lately I have really enjoyed a few autobiographies and biographies of famous people. I also enjoy cooking, although I don’t do as much of it as I used to. I enjoy travelling and visiting new places, although it is always good to get home. Finally, Greg and I enjoy camping in our 5th wheel coach. It is when I can truly rest and relax.

So, what about you? What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Leave a comment below.

My hobbies are pretty boring I must admit. I love to read..I read all kinds of books from fiction to non fiction. I so wish that I was crafty but that gene wasn’t passed on to me at all. I have made cards in the past but right now I don’t have time for it anymore. That about sums it up….I now can go back to my boring life but its the one that the LORD has blessed me with.

Ah, but my friend, your life is not boring. You forgot to tell us about your little furry friend that makes your life exciting and definitely gives you a lot to focus on.

Besides writing (and blogging)?  Gardening and running have become two of my hobbies.

I am just a beginning gardener, but I love it. We have two raised beds that we plant. Thanks for stopping by. I’m headed over to answer your Friday IceBreaker questions.

I have friends and family who knit and crochet but I’ve
never managed to get into it. I bet you turn out some beautiful things!! Thanks
      for stopping by.

Reading and knitting scarves to give away on a knitting loom (which I call “knitting for idiots” as I can knit on it without messing up but hand me 2 knitting needles and it is a disaster!)

Let’s see when I’m not at work or at school…I love to read–I love to read vampire stories but also enjoy Christian Inspiration (probably don’t read enough of this), sign language–I love to come up with how I would sign a song or watching on youtube people signing songs or going to workshops or even just school in general (is that sad?), I love to crochet–I’m working on a blue, rippled afghan right now, and photography–I’m actually thinking about taking a photography class at school sometime.

Hobbies. Hmmm. I am wondering if I have any. Perhaps because the things I enjoy are just a part of my day to day living. Like reading, a little gardening, writing-blogging, some sewing, making homemade products – laundry soap, soft soap, all purpose cleaners, from time to time greeting card making, some photography art, going and doing with Grandchildren, good movies, when we can a night or two at a bed and breakfast, oh driving the golf cart while my beloved plays 18 holes – that is fun!, riding our bikes (that’s bicycles), sitting on the bank of Steele Creek watching the world go by, watching our dog and cat be themselves,  — stuff like that.  Now, lets see what others are doing. :)

“the things I enjoy are a part of my daily life”. My
friend, I need to find that balance you have.  To incorporate the things I enjoy into my
daily life. Oh, I do that to a very small extent but for some reason, I am
driven…and not in a good way. My husband knows how to shut down and relax, but
I still have to learn that. There is just always something to do.  Thanks for stopping by,.

There are SO many things I would LOVE to do as hobbies but there just is not enough time in my life with working full-time, and running a home and family full-time.  But, I do enjoy blogging and playing with my camera. Some day I would love to combine the two into a business and quit my 9-5:).  But until then, they really are just hobbies. I also love to spend time with my grandbabies!!!

Cindy, I totally get where you are coming from. I would
love to stop my 9-5 and do ministry full time, but alas, God has not decreed
that just yet. Thanks for stopping by and happy Mother’s Day.
